Partnership for Equity
The Partnership for Equity was the most recent evolution of The Community Foundation for the National Capitol Region’s efforts to support social justice work across diverse communities, in our region. The Partnership for Equity advanced its mission of strengthening the Washington metropolitan region by strengthening the capacity of social justice nonprofits and the individuals who lead. Over the many years The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region has invested in strategies to achieve social justice through its initiatives. We determined that the cause of social justice cannot be confined to a single initiative . If we live true to the values of the Partnership for Equity, then these values must be the foundation of our work. So, we are making a change. While saddened to see the end of a one-of-kind initiative which brought together a cross-sector of leaders around a broad spectrum of social justice issues – affordable housing to employment, going forward the principles that guided the work of the Partnership for Equity and the best practices from that work will be woven into the broader work of the Community Foundation. We will continue to strengthen the capacity of our local leaders and nonprofit partners to engage diverse communities in full involvement in the economic, social and civic life of our community. We will continue to engage and collaborate across public and private sectors in new, innovative ways. We are going to continue to advance the cause of social justice and the promise of equity, access and opportunity for all in the region. We invite you to join us. Take a moment to read about the successful practices in capacity building and social justice from the work of the Partnership for Equity and to learn about the Foundation’s continued social justice efforts.
We would like to acknowledge all of those who contributed to the success of the Partnership for Equity.
