Through the generosity of our donors in fiscal year 2008, The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region awarded some $91 million in grants to nonprofit organizations. In terms of our grantmaking, the Community Foundation is ranked as one of the Top Ten community foundations in the nation .
In keeping with our mission to enact real change in the DC Metropolitan region and it's outlying communities, The Community Foundation awarded 61.5% of our total grant support to nonprofit organizations here in our community, 39.4% of this figure allotted to organizations in DC proper. With this considerable contribution, we remain the largest funder of area nonprofits in the National Capital region. The graph below offers a visual depiction of our contributions.
