For more than 35 years, The Community Foundation and our donors have demonstrated a deep commitment to our diverse communities.
Going forward, working together we can bring positive change to the most difficult issues facing our region today.
For Nonprofits
Through the generosity of our donors in fiscal year 2009, The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region awarded some $90 million in grants to nonprofit organizations. In terms of our grantmaking, the Community Foundation is ranked as one of the Top Ten community foundations in the nation . In keeping with our mission to enact real change in the DC Metropolitan region and it's outlying communities, The Community Foundation awarded 61.5% of our total grant support to nonprofit organizations here in our community, 39.4% of this figure allotted to organizations in DC proper. With this considerable contribution, we remain the largest funder of area nonprofits in the National Capital region. The graph below offers a visual depiction of our contributions.
