UPDATE:  Now Accepting Applications for 2008 MARPAT Grants for Projects Targeted to DC's Wards 7 and 8

Deadline: May 27, 2008

By arrangement with the Community Foundation for the national capital Region, The MARPAT Foundation has issued a Request-for-Proposals (RFP) for projects serving Wards 7 and 8 in Washington, DC.  Download the RFP HERE

Through responsive grantmaking and strategic initiatives, The Community Foundation strives to build a Greater Washington region where people and institutions work together to address challenging issues.  Of course, nonprofit organizations are critical partners in this work.

To effectively support nonprofits, we offer a range of funding opportunities:

  • Non-competitive donor advised fund grants allowing individual, family and institutional donors to direct allocations from their funds.  No unsolicited proposals accepted.
  • Competitive donor advised fund grants open for application from nonprofits.

  • Community Foundation initiative grants support work focused on The Foundation's leadership agenda – increasing economic opportunities for youth and low-income families through education and career development opportunities.

Eligibility Requirements for Competitive Grants
All applicants (except individuals applying for scholarships) must be nonprofit organizations with a 501 (c) 3 designation from the Internal Revenue Service.  Due to our wide range of funding opportunities, each fund from which grants are made has its own specific guidelines, defining the priorities and review criteria that help staff and/or that fund's donor(s) make funding decisions.  For grants awarded by The Community Foundation's own grantmaking funds, grants are made to nonprofits whose work benefits the residents of the Washington DC, Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Arlington County, City of Alexandria, County of Fairfax, Fairfax City, City of Falls Church, and Loudoun County.  Learn more about our grantmaking by following the links below.
