What We Fund
The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region is home to over 650 donor-advised funds and field of interest funds formed by individuals, families and corporations from across the Metropolitan Washington, DC region, each with distinct funding priorities. The majority of these funds do not accept proposals or applications. A handful of funds do offer competitive funding opportunities; please see Competitive Grant Opportunities for more information.
The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region’s Community Leadership priorities are improving the economic outcomes for youth and low-income families in the region through strengthening education and workforce development opportunities.
The Community Foundation leads several funding collaboratives and strategic initiatives to increase the capacity of the local nonprofit sector to address these priorities. Additionally, The Community Foundation has committed its discretionary Community Leadership Fund assets, composed of generous contributions from our donors, to these initiatives.
